Web Development

This course is designed to introduce students to the principles and practical skills of web design. Students will learn the fundamentals of design theory, user experience (UX), and interface design while gaining hands-on experience with web design tools and technologies. By the end of the course, students will be capable of creating visually appealing and user-friendly websites.

Entry Requirements:

  • Applicant must have completed a basic form of education or higher.
  • Completed a Computing Course.
  • Ability to read and write in English.

Week 1: Introduction to Web Design

- What is web design? - Role of web design in the digital world - Importance of user-centered design - Web design tools and technologies

Week 2: Design Principles

- Fundamental design principles (layout, typography, color, etc.) - Understanding the design process - Creating design briefs and style guides - Practical exercises in design principles

Week 3: HTML and CSS Basics

- Introduction to HTML and CSS - Creating a simple webpage - Styling elements with CSS - Best practices for clean and semantic code

Week 4: Responsive Web Design

- What is responsive design? - Media queries and breakpoints - Mobile-first design approach - Building a responsive website

Week 5: User Experience (UX) Design

- Introduction to UX design - Usability principles - Creating user personas and user journeys - Practical exercises in UX design

Week 6: Navigation and Menus
